What ҈ means
The letter gives the count; ҈ marks the hundred-thousands scale. Thus а҈ means 100,000.
Cyrillic numerals grew from Greek models in 10th-century Bulgaria and spread east. Novgorod monk Kirik’s 1136 year-counting guide uses а҈ for 100,000; its surviving early 16th-century copy calls the value несведи. Later Church Slavonic manuscripts and academic works preserve the sign; the value is also called a “legion.”
The related Cyrillic marks are ⃝ for ten-thousands and ҉ for millions. Glagolitic, another Slavic script, used a separate numeral system.
