What ⲋ means
Coptic numerals use ⲋ for six, between the signs for five and seven. It marks a number, not a spoken sound.
Coptic writing adapted Greek for Egyptian and borrowed Demotic signs for sounds Greek lacked; Demotic was an older Egyptian script. Around 400 CE, Coptic was replacing older Egyptian scripts. Greek digamma was a sound-letter that also held the sixth numeral value; stigma later took that place, which Coptic sou preserves.
