dogra sign anusvara

Dogra Anusvara

56/60

𑠷 is the Dogra nasalization mark: it gives the affected sound nasal resonance. It follows its base in text, so alone it has no word meaning. Correct display may require a Dogra font and software that positions combining marks.

What 𑠷 means

It marks nasalization, a sound quality made with resonance through the nose.

Dogra is the historical script used to write Dogri.

Dogra was used for Dogri in Jammu and Kashmir by the 17th century. Standardized in the 1860s, its formal form, Namey Dogra Akkar (“New Dogra Script”), appeared in administration, currency, postcards, stamps and literature. The unofficial common form was Old Dogra; Dogra is closely related to Takri.

Why does 𑠷 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
