What does ₫ mean in a price?
It marks an amount in Vietnamese đồng. Vietnamese price formatting puts it after the amount with a space: 1.234.568 ₫. Periods group thousands; commas mark decimals.
The State Bank of Vietnam records national banknotes beginning in 1951, new banknotes circulating in the south in 1975, and nationwide currency unification in 1978. These milestones describe changes to the monetary system, not when this character's design first appeared.
Why does the ₫ line sit differently across fonts?
Fonts place its lower line at different heights.
The sign's form is built from lowercase đ with an added lower line. Some fonts place that line above, on, or below the text baseline, so the same sign can sit higher or lower beside numerals.
