What ⧨ means
Read its role from the notation around it.
As a mathematical symbol, this split triangle gives its outline, not the job it has in an equation. Check the surrounding notation or ask its author.
Where does its Unicode trail begin?
A 2000 proposal for mathematical publishing lists it. It sought to complete the math characters in ISO/IEC 10646, the international standard coordinated with Unicode, and grew out of STIX, a font project involving scientific, technical, and mathematics publishers. This dates the proposal, not the shape's invention.
