What 𛰈 means
It began as shorthand for writing French quickly.
Duployé learned an earlier French shorthand tradition shaped by Taylor-Bertin and Aimé Paris. A guide to his shorthand appeared in 1860; the distinct method bearing his name followed in 1867. In British Columbia, Catholic missionary Jean-Marie Le Jeune expanded Duployan into Chinuk Pipa (Chinook writing), used for Chinook Jargon and local Indigenous languages. The mission newspaper Kamloops Wawa carried it from 1891–1923, and readers also wrote letters in it.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𛰈 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
