What 𛰘 means
It is one letter in Chinook writing.
At a 1890 meeting, missionaries described shorthand as easier to draw and adapt for local languages than the syllabary being discussed, a writing system where each mark represents a syllable. Le Jeune's early lessons used the adapted script for language teaching and prayers.
Rh is an added Chinook letter, not part of the original French inventory. A 2014 Unicode note on rendering explains that Duployan letters can connect cursively and change shape with their neighbors and font, so 𛰘 may look different inside a word.
