What 🥚 means
Food, and around Easter the decorated egg.
The picture is an intact egg, so it covers anything from a boiled egg to the box missing from the fridge. Its second job is seasonal. Eggs have long stood for new life, and they turn up in very different festivals: medieval Christians coloured and gave eggs at Easter after the Lenten fast, Ukrainian pysanky are drawn in wax and dipped in dye, and decorated eggs often sit on the Iranian Nowruz table. Chocolate eggs came much later, in the 1800s. Beside 🐰 or 🐣 in an Easter message, 🥚 reads as a holiday greeting rather than a recipe.
Can 🥚 mean something about gender?
Yes, in trans-community slang.
In English-speaking trans communities, an “egg” is someone who hasn't yet recognised they are trans, and the egg “cracking” is that realisation. People use it wryly about their own past, but also about others, and pinning it on someone else can come across as presumptuous or pushy. A lone egg in a chat about brunch carries none of this; the reading only switches on when the conversation is already about gender.
Ordinary in food talk; personal in gender talk, so let the other person set that tone.
Don't call someone an egg as a gender joke unless they use that term themselves.

3Worth knowing
- From 2010 to 2017 Twitter's default profile picture was an egg. Because harassment accounts often never changed it, “egg account” became shorthand for a faceless, possibly throwaway profile, though a default picture alone proves nothing.
Questions people ask
1Is 🥚 a raw egg or a boiled egg?
Either. The artwork is a whole egg in its shell and doesn't show how it's cooked, so your sentence decides; for an egg fried in a pan, 🍳 fits better.
How to type 🥚
:egg:the common shortcode; support varies by platform.🥚Codes and encoding1 code points
A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
