What 𐌶 means
𐌶 marks the Gothic “z” sound, like the first sound in “zoo.”
In the fourth century, Wulfila devised the Gothic alphabet to write the language and translate the Bible. Its earliest substantial surviving texts are Bible manuscripts from the late fifth to mid-sixth century. Gothic writing faded sharply by the mid-sixth century; early ninth-century scribes copied letter lists with pronunciation notes as reading aids.
