What 𑌈 means
It is Grantha’s independent long-i letter.
𑌈 stands alone; 𑍀 attaches that vowel after a consonant.
Grantha grew from southern Brahmi, an early Indian script, through Pallava writing in South India. Related forms appear in Pallava inscriptions from the fourth century CE; modern Grantha dates to after the thirteenth century CE. It added Sanskrit sound distinctions Tamil script lacked. Manipravalam mixed both scripts in Tamil–Sanskrit literature. Grantha manuscripts preserve Sri Lankan Sanskrit medical and ritual texts and Siamese (Thai) mantras and praise poems.
