What ᅲ means
It represents the Korean vowel yu. Use ㅠ as a standalone jamo in modern Korean, or combine Hangul jamo to write a syllable.
In 2017, a Unicode review linked the halfwidth Hangul set to the 7-bit jamo annex of KS C 5601 / KS X 1001 and to an almost identical Xerox set referencing KS C 5601-1982. These forms let Hangul take one cell in mixed-width layouts.
The vowel value stayed the same; the halfwidth form serves as compatibility data. The 2017 review reported no Korean IME entry for halfwidth jamo and noted that many Korean fonts lacked coverage.
