What ᅿ means
It is one archaic vowel jamo, made from two components. The label o-eo names ᅩ ᅥ; a medial vowel joins consonant jamo inside a Hangul syllable block.
Hangul was devised in 1443 for Korean speech; its guide, Hunminjeongeum, was completed in 1446. A cited example, ᄋᅿᆯ마나, appears on folio 5b—the reverse of leaf 5—of the manuscript Yeombulbogwonmun. Later changes in Korean vowel harmony—the way vowels pattern within words—pushed such spellings out of ordinary use. In 2019, a study proposed ᅿ as a written sign for an English vowel sound, [ɔ].
