What 앑 means
It is a Korean syllable block.
“alt” is generated from the block’s parts, not the English key. Hangeul builds syllables from letters: 앑 has initial ㅇ, vowel ㅏ, and final ㄾ, a 겹받침 (double consonant ending).
Hangeul’s earliest record is tied to 1443; its explanatory book to 1446. Earlier Korean used Chinese-character writing methods called Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal. ㄾ pronunciation before another consonant ends in an l sound and makes the next consonant tense: 핥다 (“to lick”) is roughly hal-tta; 훑소, hul-sso.
