What 뽇 means

A Hangul syllable can be a word or part of one.

South Korea’s Latin-letter spelling is “ppot”; “bbod” is a Unicode label, not a translation.

Hangul was designed to ease Korean writing; its first record is from 1443, and the 1446 book Hunminjeongeum explains its design. Earlier, Idu, Gugyeol and Hyangchal adapted Chinese characters for writing Korean. Hangul spread into daily use, became official in 1894 and lost that status under Japanese rule in 1910.
