Hangul syllable 뾌

5005/11172

뾌 is one Korean syllable block, but by itself it does not give enough context for a reliable translation. Its meaning comes from the Korean word containing it. On a standard 2-set Korean keyboard, press ShiftQ, H, O, then ShiftT.

What 뾌 means

Its translation depends on the Korean word around it. The block combines ㅃ at the start, ㅙ as its vowel, and ㅆ at the end. Together they form one written syllable within Korean spelling.

To type 뾌 on a Korean keyboard set to 2-set, press ShiftQ, H, O, then ShiftT. The shifted keys produce ㅃ and ㅆ; H followed by O builds ㅙ. If you receive the syllable on its own, look at the full Korean word or phrase before translating it.

Why does Hangul use square blocks?

Each block groups the letters of a syllable. The glyph is an output of Hangul's system for assembling syllables, not a separately invented emblem. Hangul's creation record is dated 1443. The 1446 Hunminjeongeum, a text explaining the script, describes its letters, their sounds, and how they combine.

Hangul was designed to represent Korean speech and teach reading where Chinese characters and earlier borrowed writing systems did not fit Korean well. South Korean writing included both Hangul-only and mixed Hangul-Hanja styles through the 1980s and 1990s; digital text processing and language policy helped make Hangul-only writing routine. A scholarly comparison proposes that the Phags-pa script influenced Hangul's syllable theory and block layout, but it does not establish a direct ancestor for this exact syllable.

As Korean writing, it is neutral in tone; this syllable alone does not mark mood or politeness.

Alone, it lacks the word context needed for a reliable translation.

Questions people ask

1

Why might I see 뾌 instead of 뾌?

Hangul can be represented as a precomposed syllable block or as jamo, the letters that form it. 뾌 is the decomposed sequence for 뾌. If a display shows the jamo separately instead of shaping them into a block, it is still the same syllable.

Why is 뾌 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
