What 븝 means
It is a Korean syllable, not a standalone reaction.
븝 combines two ㅂ consonant letters around the vowel ㅡ. These Korean letter parts are called jamo. The syllable gets its meaning from the word it belongs to; by itself, its intended reading is unclear.
The first record of Hangul is dated 1443 in the Sejong Sillok, a Korean royal chronicle. The 1446 Hunminjeongeum, a guide introducing the script, explains its design for representing Korean speech more directly. Older Korean writing methods such as Idu, Hyangchal, and Gugyeol adapted Chinese characters to write Korean; they are historical context, not alternate readings or ancestors of 븝. The script also had names such as jeongeum, eonmun, banjeol, gukmun, gukseo, and Hangeul. These dates belong to Hangul’s history, not the first-appearance date of this syllable.
Type 븝 with Dubeolsik
A Korean IME composes the syllable from its letters.
On a Dubeolsik Korean keyboard, type ㅂ, then ㅡ, then ㅂ. The Q-M-Q key sequence produces 븝 as the input method assembles those letter parts into one syllable block.
Why is 븝 a box?
A square usually marks missing glyph support.
The text can still contain valid 븝 while an app shows a square because its font or fallback renderer cannot draw the glyph. Fonts may arrange the component letters differently; the square signals a display failure, not another reading.
Neutral inside Korean writing; opaque on its own.
If you send it alone, the recipient may not know which Korean word you mean.
