What 빈 means

It means “empty” or “vacant”; the next word adds the shade. The verb 비다 means “to be empty”; 빈 is the form used before a noun. 빈 집 is an empty house, 빈 시간 is free time, and 빈손 means empty-handed. The related verb can also describe having no money or an inner sense of emptiness.

Hangul is the Korean writing system, designed to represent Korean speech. Its 1446 guide, the Hunminjeongeum, explains how letters form one block per syllable.

Why does 빈 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
