What 쳻 means

On a Korean 2-set keyboard, type cPfg.

c enters ㅊ, Shiftp enters ㅖ, and f followed by g enters final ㅀ. With Korean input active, the input method assembles them into one block. If separate letters appear, check the selected layout and input mode.

What does 쳻 mean?

Alone, 쳻 is a syllable block, not a Korean word.

쳻 combines initial consonant ㅊ, vowel ㅖ, and final cluster ㅀ, made from ㄹ and ㅎ. These are parts of a Korean syllable spelling; they do not add up to a word meaning on their own.

Hangul's design was completed in 1443 and explained in the 1446 Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the new writing system. It was designed to let people write Korean without first learning Chinese characters.

Why does 쳻 end with ㅀ?

The final ㅀ is a consonant cluster in the syllable spelling.

Hangul places an initial, a vowel, and an optional final jamo in one square syllable block. A syllable can be stored as a precomposed block or as conjoining jamo; font shaping and text normalization affect how that sequence appears.

Middle Korean, an earlier stage of Korean, had noun stems ending in an h sound. Those endings gradually disappeared or were restructured in later Korean. Separately, novels helped spread Hangul in the 17th and 18th centuries, and the 1894 Kabo Reform brought it into official documents.

Questions people ask

1

Will cPfg work on every keyboard?

No. It assumes the Korean 2-set layout and active Korean input; another layout or input method assigns different keys.
