Hangul syllable Cyibs

8783/11172

칎 is a Korean Hangul syllable block built from ㅊ, ㅢ and final ㅄ; the surrounding Korean words show how it is used. Hangul was devised in 1443 for easier Korean writing. Its 1446 guide, Hunminjeongeum, explained the design and offered a direct alternative to older methods adapting Chinese characters, including Idu, Gugyeol and Hyangchal. Hangul later served religious, practical and official texts.

Why does 칎 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
