What 츟 means

It is one precomposed Hangul syllable block.

Is 츟 a Korean word? As of 2026, it has no established standalone word or social meaning in Korean. In a longer text, read it through the Korean word and sentence containing it.

How is 츟 built from jamo?

It combines the Korean jamo ㅊ, ㅠ, and ㅎ in that order.

The building letters are called jamo: ㅊ is the opening consonant, ㅠ is the vowel, and ㅎ is the final consonant. Korean calls a final consonant in this position batchim (받침). The Unicode label Cyuh names this combination; it is not a Korean translation.

Hangul was devised in 1443 and explained in the 1446 Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the new script. It offered a more direct way to write Korean than older Chinese-character-based methods such as Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal. Early Hangul publications included Buddhist scriptures and later Confucian texts; Hangul became an official national writing system in 1894, faced suppression under Japanese rule after 1910, and underwent notation reforms after liberation in 1945. These milestones belong to Hangul's history, not a separate story for this one syllable.

How do I type 츟?

Use a Korean IME to enter the jamo in order. Type ㅊ, ㅠ, and ㅎ; an input method with Hangul composition joins them as 츟.

Neutral as a syllable block; unclear as a message by itself.

If someone sends it alone, ask for the Korean word or sentence around it.

Questions people ask

2

Why does 츟 split into jamo?

It may be stored in decomposed form. Unicode treats 츟 and 츟 as equivalent text: the same syllable can be stored as three jamo or as one precomposed block. Some input methods and text fields preserve the three parts.

Can two fonts draw 츟 differently?

Yes. Fonts can vary the placement and stroke shape of Hangul components. Those design choices change the appearance, not the character.
