What 댎 means
It is a Hangul syllable block, not a clear message by itself. In keyboard-style Hangul notation, its parts are ㄷ ㅐ final ㄿ. Unicode's joining forms are ᄃ ᅢ ᆵ; ᆵ is one final jamo representing the ㄹㅍ consonant cluster.
Hangul was created in 1443, and the Hunminjeongeum document explaining its principles was published in 1446. It gave Korean speech a writing system people could learn without relying on Literary Chinese. That history belongs to Hangul as a whole, not to a separate invention of this syllable.
Scholars compare Hangul's design with the earlier Phags-pa script, dated to 1269, and with Chinese traditions for classifying speech sounds. These are writing-system comparisons; they do not show that 댎 itself was borrowed.
How do I type 댎?
On the standard Korean 2-set keyboard, enter e, o, f, then v. Those keys produce ㄷ, ㅐ, ㄹ, and ㅍ. A Korean input method (IME) joins the last two into final ㄿ and commits the block; phone keyboards and other layouts arrange the keys differently.
Some input methods leave the jamo decomposed instead of composing one syllable block. In software that needs the precomposed form, use Unicode NFC normalization to recombine the jamo.
What if someone sends only 댎?
The character alone does not reveal a clear message or tone. Look at the surrounding Korean text or ask what the sender meant; a single block gives too little conversational context to read as a reaction.
Neutral as Hangul text; an isolated block gives too little context to read as a reaction.
Don't treat a lone 댎 as a dependable mood signal.

Questions people ask
1Why does 댎 look different in another font?
