띭 is a Korean Hangul syllable block. On its own, it shows the parts of a syllable rather than a complete message; its meaning comes from the Korean word around it.

What 띭 means

It is one Korean syllable, not a complete word by itself. Its spelling is built from ᄄ, the opening consonant; ᅵ, the vowel; and ᆴ, the final consonant cluster. Read it inside its Korean word to understand the word's meaning.

The Sejong Sillok, a Korean royal chronicle, records Hangul in 1443; the explanatory book Hunminjeongeum appeared in 1446. Hangul was designed to write Korean. In a culture where elites used Hanmun, or Classical Chinese, clerks also used Idu, a system for writing Korean with Chinese characters. Hangul's more accessible letters opened another route into writing.

Why does 띭 look like one block?

Hangul fits a syllable's letters into a square block. An opening consonant and vowel take set positions, with an optional final consonant. In 띭, final ᆴ is a two-letter cluster, not decoration.

Hangul's public role grew through teaching, letters, translations, and literature. Korean script became the basis of official documents after 1894. A proposed spelling standard followed in 1933 and was partly revised in 1988. These changes shaped Korean writing as a whole.

How do I type 띭?

Enter its Korean jamo in order with a Korean IME. Jamo are the individual letters that form Hangul syllables. Enter ㄸ, then ㅣ, then the final cluster ㄾ; the input method assembles them into 띭. A Latin-only keyboard needs a Korean input method or layout.

Different fonts can draw the block's strokes differently without changing the character. Unicode treats a Hangul syllable block as one text unit during selection and cursor movement.

Neutral in Korean text; its written structure is clear even when its word meaning depends on context.

Alone, 띭 gives you a syllable's structure, not a complete message.

1

Why does 띭 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
