Hangul syllable ddoeb

뙵 is a Hangul syllable block; alone, it has no fixed message meaning, while in Korean text it represents one syllable. If someone sends it alone, ask what Korean text they intended. A Korean 2-set keyboard can build it from several keystrokes, which the keyboard software joins into one block.

What 뙵 means

One Hangul syllable block; it has no fixed message meaning alone.

Hangul arranges consonant and vowel letters into a block for one syllable. In 뙵, ᄄ is the initial consonant, ᅬ the vowel, and ᆸ the final consonant.

The National Hangeul Museum dates the first record of Hunminjeongeum, the new Korean writing system, in the Sejong Sillok (a royal chronicle), to 1443. An explanatory book appeared in 1446, describing the letters and how they form syllable blocks. Hangul was designed to make Korean speech easier to write in a society where formal writing relied on Chinese characters. A 2017 scholarly review describes competing explanations of its goals, including widening access to writing, recording Korean pronunciation, and moving away from Chinese-character writing. Modern Korean spelling traces to a 1933 draft, partly revised in 1988.

How to type 뙵

Use the Korean 2-set layout: ShiftE, H, L, Q.

On a QWERTY-labelled Korean 2-set layout, press ShiftE, then H, L, Q. ShiftE supplies initial ㄸ; H then L forms ㅚ; Q supplies final ㅂ. The keyboard software joins the sequence as you type.

If an app stores 뙵 as separate Hangul letters, Unicode NFC normalization—the form that recomposes them into 뙵—helps when exact matching or search matters. The decomposed and precomposed strings can look alike but compare differently; NFD does the reverse.

Neutral in Korean writing; alone, it needs the intended word or more context.

Alone, ask what Korean text was intended instead of guessing from the block.
