Hangul syllable Ddyanh

땮 is one Korean Hangul syllable block, not a word with its own standalone meaning. In a Korean word, its meaning comes from the word as a whole; the block combines ㄸ, ㅑ, and final ㄶ. Hangul groups letters into syllable blocks, so those parts can also be stored separately.

What 땮 means

This is a Hangul syllable block, not a standalone word. Its meaning comes from the Korean word that contains it. The romanized label “Ddyanh” names the letter sequence; it is not a translation. The parts are initial ㄸ, vowel ㅑ, and final cluster ㄶ. On a standard 2-set Korean keyboard with Korean input active, Shift+E, I, S, G enters ㄸ, ㅑ, ㄴ, ㅎ; the last two combine as final ㄶ. Leaving off ㅎ changes the block to 땬.

Hangul was created in 1443. The 1446 Hunminjeongeum manuscript, a text explaining the writing system, describes its purpose and principles: to let Korean be written without relying on Chinese characters for official literacy.

Before Hangul, Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal adapted Chinese characters to write Korean. They are earlier ways of writing Korean, not alternate spellings of this syllable. In 1894, Hangul became Korea’s official national writing system.

How do I type 땮 on a Korean keyboard?

On a standard 2-set Korean input method, enter four keys in order. Press Shift+E, then I, S, G to enter ㄸ, ㅑ, ㄴ, ㅎ. With Korean input active, the input method groups the last two consonants as final ㄶ and composes the block.

Typing Ddyanh enters Latin letters. It names the romanized sequence, but it is not a Latin-key shortcut for the Hangul block.

Why can 땮 appear as separate letters or a box?

The stored text form and font support determine what appears. Unicode’s Hangul decomposition can store the syllable as the precomposed block 땮 or as three separate Hangul letters, 땮. These are canonically equivalent forms; Korean shaping can display the separate letters as one syllable block.

A font without a glyph for this character may show a missing-glyph box. That display does not change the underlying text.

Neutral in Korean writing; by itself, this syllable gives no word meaning.

Why does 땮 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
