What 뚖 means
The name ddyoj labels its parts; it is not a translated word.
The Unicode-generated name labels the initial consonant ㄸ, vowel ㅛ, and final consonant ㅈ. Hangul arranges these parts together in one square syllable block.
Hangul was devised under King Sejong in 1443 and explained in the 1446 work Hunminjeongeum (“Correct Sounds for the Instruction of the People”). It was designed to let Korean speakers write without needing literacy in Chinese characters. Its use later expanded through Buddhist and Confucian books, laws, practical texts, and everyday records. Those milestones describe the script; this block follows its regular syllable-building pattern.

Questions people ask
1Why does 뚖 look different?
Usually, it is a font or text-normalization difference. Hangul fonts vary in stroke shape and component spacing; some tools display a decomposed syllable as separate letters instead of one block. The underlying Hangul spelling can still be canonically equivalent.
