What 덾 means
Use a Korean IME: ㄷ, ㅔ, ㄹ, then ㅍ.
An input method editor combines the keystrokes into one Hangul syllable block. The last two Jamo, ㄹ ㅍ, form the final cluster ㄿ.
The canonical decomposition is ᄃ ᅦ ᆵ. It can render like the precomposed 덾, but the two are different text sequences. Normalization makes comparisons consistent; NFC recomposes Hangul Jamo into the syllable block.
What does “delp” mean?
It is a structural label, not a translation.
Unicode builds the name from short labels for the decomposed parts: D for initial ㄷ, E for vowel ㅔ, and LP for final ᆵ, the cluster ㄿ. The label describes how the block is assembled.
Why does Hangul use syllable blocks?
Hangul combines consonants and vowels into syllable blocks.
Hangul, the Korean alphabet, was completed in 1443. Hunminjeongeum, the guide that introduced the script, was published in 1446. It offered a way to write Korean with its own consonant and vowel components alongside the established use of Classical Chinese, a separate written language. 덾 is one block made by that syllable-building design.
In later periods, Hangul letterforms shifted from early square forms through court, commercial-print, and modern type styles. Those changes affect the script’s appearance; 덾’s structure still follows the same consonant-vowel design.

Questions people ask
1Why does 덾 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
