What 됊 means
This is one Korean syllable block, built from three Hangul letters. The individual letters are called jamo: ᄃ starts the block, ᅫ is its vowel, and ᆵ closes it. Unicode's name “Dwaelp” describes that construction; it does not translate a Korean word. If someone sends only 됊, ask for context: its component-based name cannot tell you what they intended.
Hangul was devised in 1443 and published in 1446 to make written Korean more accessible than writing it with Chinese characters. By 1894, it had become Korea's official national writing system. Those dates describe Hangul as a script, not an origin story for this individual block.
How do I type 됊?
On a Korean 2-set keyboard, enter ehofv. With a QWERTY layout and Korean input method editor (IME), e supplies initial ㄷ, h o build vowel ㅙ, and f v build final cluster ㄿ. The IME joins them into 됊. These are key mappings, not an English spelling.
Why can 됊 appear as separate jamo?
Some apps or fonts may leave the equivalent jamo sequence unjoined. Unicode also represents this syllable as the conjoining sequence ᄃ ᅫ ᆵ. A renderer that supports Hangul shaping joins those letters into one block; uneven support can leave them separate.
A technical Hangul character, useful in Korean text processing or when checking keyboard and font support.
Do not read the component-based name “Dwaelp” as a translated Korean word.
