What 돫 means
Type E H K F Q on a Korean 2-set keyboard.
In Korean input mode, those keys enter the letters ㄷ, ㅗ, ㅏ, ㄹ, and ㅂ. The input method combines ㅗ+ㅏ into ㅘ and ㄹ+ㅂ into the final consonant cluster ㄼ, producing 돫. With an English-only layout active, the same keys produce Latin letters.
What does 돫 mean?
As of 2026-09-13, it has no established standalone meaning. The Hangul block combines the consonant ㄷ, vowel ㅘ, and final cluster ㄼ. Its name describes that component recipe; it is not a translation. If someone sends it by itself, ask what they meant.
Why does Hangul use syllable blocks?
They group Korean consonants and vowels into readable syllables.
The Veritable Records of Sejong, a royal chronicle, records Hangul’s creation in December 1443. The Hunminjeongeum manuscript, a guide explaining the new letters, followed in 1446. Hangul was made for Korean speakers because Chinese-character writing did not fit Korean well and was difficult to learn.
Hangul spread through religious translations, practical books, laws, and everyday communication. In 1894, it became an official national writing system.
Technical or linguistic rather than expressive; it reads as Korean text.
Questions people ask
1Why did 돫 split into separate jamo?
