What 돃 means
It is one Hangul syllable built from three sound letters.
Hangul was devised in the mid-15th century as a writing system for Korean speech. Its 1446 guide, Hunminjeongeum, explains joining an initial consonant, a vowel and sometimes a final consonant into one block. 돃 follows that design: ㄷ begins it, ㅖ supplies the vowel, and ㅎ closes it.
How do I type 돃?
Enter ㄷ, then ㅖ, then ㅎ in a Korean IME.
Unicode can decompose 돃 into three conjoining jamo (Hangul letter parts): ᄃ, ᅨ and ᇂ. As of 2026, support for shaping a separate jamo sequence is less consistent than support for ordinary Korean text, so a font or app may show its parts separately. The prebuilt form 돃 is encoded as one character.
Neutral inside Korean writing; opaque alone without the surrounding word or shared context.

Questions people ask
1Why does 돃 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
