What 뎵 means
No standalone word or reaction reading is established as of 2026. Hangul letters, called Jamo, form square syllable blocks; here ㄷ is the initial consonant, ㅕ the vowel, and ㄾ the final cluster . The Unicode label “Dyelt” names this construction, not a translation.
Where did Hangul’s syllable blocks come from?
Hangul was created in 1443 and explained in a book in 1446. King Sejong oversaw its creation. Its original name was Hunminjeongeum (훈민정음), often translated as “Proper Sounds for Instructing the People”; the book under that name explains the alphabet’s purpose and letter-building principles.
In the 15th century, Hangul spread alongside Chinese characters: women at court and Buddhist communities helped circulate it while officials and scholars continued writing with Chinese characters.
On its own, this is a technical spelling unit; inside Korean text, its role depends on the surrounding word and sentence.
