What 갳 means
The block gives a syllable; the Korean word gives its meaning. It combines ㄱ as the initial consonant, ㅐ as the vowel, and ㅊ as the final consonant.
Hangul developed under King Sejong. The royal annals Sejong Sillok record the new script in 1443; Hunminjeongeum, a guide to its purpose and principles, was published in 1446 to help people write Korean speech. A proposed connection to the Phags-pa script remains debated.
Unicode can represent 갳 as one syllable block or as the three-letter sequence 갳. They can look the same on screen, but a raw text comparison may treat them differently until the text is normalized.
