What 긒 means
On the Korean two-set keyboard, type rmv.
With Hangul input active, r makes ㄱ, m makes ㅡ, and v makes ㅍ; the input method joins these letters in syllable order.
What does 긒 mean?
It is a Korean syllable, not an emoji.
Its reading is written geup in standard Korean romanization, a way of spelling Korean sounds with Latin letters. The vowel ㅡ has no exact English match; final ㅍ is a p made by closing the lips without releasing it.
Why are Hangul syllables blocks?
Hangul groups consonant and vowel letters into one block per syllable.
King Sejong created Hangul in 1443 because the available ways to write Korean relied on Chinese characters and difficult adaptations. In 1446, the book Hunminjeongeum explained the new script. Hangul became Korea’s official national writing system in 1894.

1Why does 긒 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
