What 꿊 means
A surrounding Korean word or sentence tells you how to read it.
Hangul jamo are letters: ㄲ begins 꿊, ㅜ is its vowel, and ㅄ ends it; fonts vary.
Why was Hangul created?
Before Hangul, systems called Idu, Hyangchal and Gugyeol adapted Chinese characters to write Korean.
Sejong created Hangul in 1443 for easier writing; a 1446 guidebook, Hunminjeongeum, explained the design.
Hangul became official in 1894, then lost that status after Japan annexed Korea in 1910. Hangeul is traced to the early 1910s, though accounts differ.
