What 꽚 means
It is one Korean syllable, not a word by itself. It joins ᄁ (initial consonant), ᅪ (vowel), and ᆹ (final cluster). Hangul groups letters into square syllable blocks.
How did Hangul begin?
Hangul was designed to write Korean in a system easier to learn. King Sejong created Hunminjeongeum, now called Hangul, in 1443; its purpose and principles were explained in 1446.
Before Hangul, Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal adapted Chinese characters to write Korean. Hangul instead uses letters for Korean sounds, making it easier to learn.
