What 꺝 means
On a Korean 2-set keyboard, press ShiftR, then I, then X.
These keys enter the Hangul letters ㄲ, ㅑ, and ㅌ in order; Hangul is the Korean writing system, and an input method editor (IME)—the keyboard software—joins the letters into 꺝. Typing “ggyat” on an English layout does not assemble it.
What does 꺝 mean?
꺝 is a Hangul syllable block, not a translation of “gyatt.”
Hangul combines letters into blocks for syllables: in 꺝, ㄲ ㅑ ㅌ form one block. The Latin-letter name “ggyat” describes that combination; Korean words around a syllable give it context.
Hangul was designed to make Korean easier to write. A record of the alphabet dates to 1443; the 1446 book Hunminjeongeum explains its letters and how initial consonants, vowels, and final consonants combine into syllables.
Neutral as a Korean syllable block; its Latin-letter name can resemble English internet slang.
Do not send 꺝 expecting readers to decode the English slang “gyatt.”
