What 굋 means
It joins three Hangul letters into one written block.
ᄀ starts it, ᅬ is its vowel, and ᆾ ends it. The word or sentence around the block supplies its meaning.
Why create Hangul?
It gave Korean its own learnable writing system.
The earliest Hangul record dates to 1443; the explanatory book Hunminjeongeum (훈민정음) appeared in 1446. Hangul offered an easier way to write Korean than relying on Chinese characters, then spread through books, letters, and literature.
