What 괅 means
In Korean IME mode, enter ㄱ ㅘ ㄺ.
With Dubeolsik, the common two-set Korean keyboard, those parts map to r, hk, and fr, giving rhkfr. Typing the Latin spelling gwalg will not compose the Hangul block.
For text processing, NFC stores the composed character; NFD stores the three jamo ᄀ ᅪ ᆰ. Unicode treats these as canonically equivalent forms, though an app or font may show the decomposed sequence as separate pieces.
What does 괅 mean?
괅 is a Hangul syllable block.
It combines an initial consonant, a vowel, and a final consonant cluster. The block shows the sound structure of a Korean syllable; the surrounding word supplies its meaning.
The Hangul script's documented history reaches back to 1443; a guide dated 1446, Hunminjeongeum, explained how to use it. The script was designed to make Korean easier to write and learn, since Chinese-character writing did not map directly onto Korean speech.
The script was called Hunminjeongeum and eonmun in earlier periods, then gukmun or gukseo. Hangeul became widely used as its name by 1928. These are names for the writing system, not extra meanings attached to 괅.
What does 괅 mean when someone sends it?
Read it as Korean text; one syllable alone needs context.
괅 may be a whole syllable in a word or part of a longer word. The surrounding Korean text determines its role; if it arrived alone, ask what word or sentence it belongs to.
Neutral Korean text; the syllable's role comes from its surrounding word or sentence.
