Hangul Syllable Gweoh

420/11172

궣 joins ㄱ, ㅝ and ㅎ into one Hangul syllable. As of 2026, it has no established standalone word meaning; in Korean writing, it contributes a syllable to a larger word. Hangul was created in 1443 and explained in the 1446 Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the alphabet, as a more accessible way to write Korean than older methods that used Chinese characters, such as Idu, Gugyeol and Hyangchal.

1

Why does 궣 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
