What 곅 means
Use a Korean IME to assemble the three Hangul letters.
In Korean input mode, enter the initial consonant ㄱ, the vowel ㅖ, then the final consonant ㄱ. A Korean IME (input method editor) is software that combines Hangul letters as you type. If 곅 splits into jamo in a text view, it is the same syllable stored as individual letters; Unicode normalization can treat the decomposed sequence as equivalent.
What does 곅 mean?
One Korean syllable; the surrounding word supplies its meaning.
The block joins an initial consonant, a vowel, and a final consonant. On its own, 곅 does not tell you which word or expression the sender intends; the surrounding Korean supplies that context.
Why are Hangul syllables written in blocks?
Hangul places letters in compact blocks, one syllable at a time.
The script's first official record is dated 1443. Hunminjeongeum, a guide published in 1446, explained the script's purpose and principles. The system offered a way to write Korean in a script fitted to Korean speech, rather than relying on Chinese characters. Its letters still combine into syllable blocks, so 곅 uses that same structure. In South Korea the script is commonly called Hangeul; in North Korea it is called Chosŏn'gŭl.
Neutral in Korean text; the surrounding words supply its conversational tone.
