hangul syllable heolb

Hangul Syllable Heolb

10708/11172

헓 is a Hangul syllable block whose meaning comes from the Korean word around it. Its spelling contains ㅎ, ㅓ, and the paired final ㄹㅂ (겹받침). That final is not always pronounced as two separate sounds.

What 헓 means

It is a Korean syllable block, not a complete message.

Its parts are ㅎ ㅓ ㄹㅂ: an initial consonant, a vowel, and a double final consonant. That structure identifies the block, not a whole Korean word's meaning.

Sent alone, it may be a word fragment, an input test, or a stray syllable; ask what surrounding text was intended.

How is 헓 pronounced inside Korean words?

The sound of ㄹㅂ depends on what follows.

In standard Korean, ㄹㅂ usually leaves only the l-like ㄹ audible at a word's end or before another consonant. In 넓다, ㅂ is not heard and following ㄷ is tensed, as the Korean pronunciation spelling 널따 shows.

Before a vowel, ㅂ can move into the next syllable: 넓은 is pronounced 널븐. The spelling preserves both parts even when speech does not pronounce them separately.

Why is 헓 one block?

Hangul arranges each spoken syllable as a block.

Hangul was designed to represent Korean speech directly, when Korean writing relied on Chinese characters and systems adapted from them. A court record from King Sejong's reign first mentions the system in 1443 under the name Hunminjeongeum; an explanatory book followed in 1446. The same syllable-block design carried from handwritten and printed texts into digital text.

Technical or language-learning text; the double final affects pronunciation.

An isolated message needs context before you treat it as a reply.

Why is 헓 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
