What 홈 means
홈 is a Korean syllable used in several Korean words.
Hangul, Korea’s alphabet, was designed under King Sejong in 1443 to write Korean speech, then presented to the public in 1446 in 훈민정음, a guide to the new letters. In 홈, ㅎ starts the syllable, ㅗ supplies its vowel, and ㅁ closes it. Depending on the full Korean word, 홈 can mean a website’s home page or home shopping; in sports it marks the home side, at a station a platform, and in technical writing a cut groove. Fonts may space those letters differently without changing the syllable.
