What 쯮 means
It writes one Korean syllable; its word supplies the meaning. Its standard romanized spelling is jjeup.
Hangul was devised under King Sejong in 1443; the 1446 guide Hunminjeongeum explained the new script. It gave ordinary learners a way to write Korean speech without having to master literary Chinese. These dates mark Hangul's development as a writing system.
During the later Joseon dynasty in Korea, Hangul was used for everyday Korean writing, including women's private writing, while literary Chinese held greater official prestige. In 1894, Hangul gained formal public status. The Mongolian Phags-pa script is historically connected to Hangul through contact, but whether it influenced Hangul's design remains debated.
How do I type 쯮 on a Korean keyboard?
On a standard 2-set Korean IME, press ShiftW, M, then V. Those keys enter ㅉ, ㅡ, and ㅍ; the input method composes them into 쯮.
Unicode can also represent the syllable as three separate Hangul building blocks, called conjoining jamo: 쯮. A Unicode text-normalization step called NFC can combine that equivalent sequence into 쯮; without Hangul shaping support, an app or font may show the parts separately.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
