쨡 is a Hangul syllable block, a unit used to spell Korean words, not a word with its own translation. As of 2026-09-13, no documented chat convention gives it a meaning when sent alone.

What 쨡 means

It is one Korean spelling unit built from three letters.

Inside a word, the surrounding spelling supplies the meaning; this block has no standalone translation.

The first official record of the new script appears in the Sejong Sillok, a royal chronicle, in the twelfth lunar month of 1443. The 1446 Hunminjeongeum book sets out the script's purpose and principles. Its preface contrasts Korean speech with Chinese writing, and describes a system built around Korean sounds and sentence structure to make writing easier to learn. After 1894, the script was commonly called gukmun or gukseo, names for the national writing system; by 1928, Hangeul was widely used as its name. These milestones explain Hangul's history; this block is one product of its syllable-building system.

how is 쨡 pronounced?

Roughly “jjal,” with a tense opening consonant.

The starting consonant ㅉ is the tense member of the ㅈ series, ㅑ supplies the “ya” vowel, and ㄾ is a two-consonant ending. When the block stands alone, ㄾ ends with its ㄹ sound. In a Korean word, if an ending beginning with the “i” vowel ㅣ follows, the ㅌ part can move forward and surface as ㅊ, so the surrounding word affects the pronunciation.

why does 쨡 break into jamo?

Hangul syllables are built from reusable consonant and vowel letters.

Jamo is the Korean name for these letter parts. Unicode represents 쨡 either as one precomposed Hangul block or as the ordered sequence ㅉ ㅑ ㄾ. Unicode normalization, which splits or recombines equivalent text forms, can convert between them without changing the reading. A Korean two-set (Dubeolsik) input method takes the starting consonant, vowel, and final letters in order, then joins them into one block.
