What 큶 means
It marks a syllable; the Korean word supplies its meaning.
Hangul builds syllable blocks from jamo, its consonant and vowel letters. 큶 breaks down into ᄏ (initial consonant), ᅳ (vowel), and ᆱ (final ㄹㅁ cluster).
Hangul's creation is first recorded in 1443. It was designed to make Korean easier to write than the Chinese-character writing then used in Korea. The 1446 Hunminjeongeum explains the new script's principles; a 1933 unified spelling proposal helped shape modern Korean spelling. Unicode can represent 큶 as three jamo, which may display separately.

Questions people ask
1Why does 큶 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
