What 퀩 means
It is one Korean syllable block; context tells you the word.
Hangul stacks consonant and vowel letters (jamo) into square blocks; 퀩 has an initial consonant, a vowel and a final consonant.
Created in 1443 under King Sejong, Hangul let people write Korean directly after long use of Chinese characters and systems adapted to Korean. A 1446 book, Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon, explained the script; Hangul later coexisted with Chinese characters in everyday Korean writing.
In 2009, a study compared Hangul with the Phags-pa script (1269); this is a scholarly comparison, not proof of descent.

1Why does 퀩 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
