What 콎 means
It is one syllable; the full meaning belongs to the word. 콎 combines ㅋ, ㅖ, and final ㅈ. At a word boundary, final ㅈ closes like a short, unreleased “t”; before a following vowel, it links into the next syllable and uses its Korean syllable-initial sound, roughly like the “j” in “jam.”
Hangul was devised in 1443 and its explanatory book, Hunminjeongeum, appeared in 1446. The writing system was designed for Korean speech and to make learning to read and write easier; Chinese writing did not fit Korean speech well.
The script has also been called eonmun (“vernacular writing”), gukmun (“national writing”), and Hangeul. These names refer to the writing system and its changing public role, not to a separate meaning for 콎.
How do I type 콎?
In a Korean IME, type ㅋ, then ㅖ, then ㅈ. The input method combines those letters into one syllable block.
The conjoining sequence 콎 can also form the same syllable when an editor supports Hangul shaping. The spacing forms ㅋㅖㅈ may stay separate: these compatibility jamo do not automatically join into a block.
