What 큘 means
Enter ㅋ, then ㅠ, then ㄹ on a Korean two-set keyboard. On the standard two-set layout, called Dubeolsik, these are the z, b, and f keys; a Korean input method assembles them into one Hangul block.
What does 큘 mean in Korean?
It is a syllable; its surrounding word supplies the meaning.
The parts of 큘 are ㅋ, ㅠ, and ㄹ—Hangul letters called jamo: an opening consonant, a vowel, and a closing consonant. In a Korean syllable block, they take those roles in that order.
How did Hangul enter public life?
It was designed for Korean speech and gradually moved into public life. King Sejong created Hangul, first called Hunminjeongeum, in 1443; a book of that name explaining its principles appeared in 1446.
In its early years, Buddhist scriptures were published in Hangul. Hangul novels of the 17th and 18th centuries widened its readership, while official documents were mainly in Chinese characters until it became official writing in 1894.
A 2009 Korean linguistics paper proposed that some Hangul vowel designs drew on Phags-pa, a script used under the Mongol-led Yuan dynasty.
