넷 is the native Korean word for four, used to count items. Before many counters it becomes 네; 사 is the Sino-Korean counterpart.

Text symbol

What 넷 means

넷 counts things; 사 labels numbers. Korean has native numerals and Chinese-derived Sino-Korean numerals. The Jilin leishi, a Chinese-language record of Korean words from 1103, writes 迺 for four; *nai is a scholarly reconstruction of that Korean reading. The Middle Korean form 넿, from Korean in the 1400s, appears in 1447 and leads to 넷.

Neutral everyday Korean numeral.
