What 늡 means
On Korean 2-set input, press s, then m, then q.
Those keys enter ㄴ, ㅡ, and ㅂ, the Korean consonant and vowel letters that the input method combines into one syllable block. With English input active, the same keys produce smq.
The same syllable can be stored as one character or as separate Hangul letters that Unicode recombines; fonts may draw its strokes differently.
What does 늡 mean on its own?
Usually, it’s a spelling syllable, not a standalone word.
In 늡늡하다, the syllable is repeated inside a Korean adjective for someone broad-minded and lively. That meaning belongs to the whole word; a lone 늡 does not mean lively by itself.
Hangul was created for writing Korean, with consonant and vowel letters arranged into syllable blocks. A 1572 property record from Korea’s Joseon dynasty analyzes 仍邑—two Hanja characters, or Chinese characters used in Korean—as a sound-based transcription of 늡 in a personal name linked to 늡늡하다.
Treat a lone 늡 as a Hangul syllable or spelling target, not a chat reaction.
For swamp or a hard-to-escape situation, spell it 늪; the similar sound does not make 늡 interchangeable.

1Why does 늡 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
