hangul syllable peulb

Hangul syllable peulb

10512/11172

As of 13 September 2026, 픏 has no established standalone message meaning; it is a Hangul syllable block. It combines initial ㅍ, vowel ㅡ, and final ㄼ, so a lone message needs Korean context. “Peulb” is a mechanical label assembled from the parts, not an old-word reading.

What 픏 means

It is a syllable block, not a self-contained message.

The jamo decomposition of 픏 is ㅍ ㅡ ㄼ: an initial consonant, a vowel, and a compound final consonant. “Peulb” is a mechanical label for those parts, not proof that the block names an old Korean word.

If someone sends 픏 alone, use the surrounding Korean words or sentence to work out why.

What is the history of Hangul syllable peulb?

Hangul's creation is recorded in 1443 in the Sejong Sillok, a court chronicle from King Sejong's reign. The new script was called Hunminjeongeum; an explanatory book, Hunminjeongeum Haerye, followed in 1446. These dates concern the writing system, not the origin date of this exact syllable.

Hangul was designed to represent Korean speech through regular combinations of consonants and vowels arranged into syllable blocks. It is called Hangul in South Korea and Chosŏn'gŭl in North Korea.

The Mongolian-derived Phags-pa script has been proposed as an influence because some letter shapes look alike; resemblance alone does not establish descent. The Haerye describes Hangul's own design principles.

How do I type 픏?

With a Korean IME, enter ㅍ, ㅡ, then ㄹ ㅂ.

A Korean IME combines those keystrokes in initial–vowel–final order into 픏. Unicode's canonical decomposition is ᄑ ᅳ ᆲ; NFC normalization recomposes that sequence into a precomposed syllable.

If the input or font does not compose or shape the jamo, the parts may display separately instead of in one square syllable cell. The display depends on the text representation and shaping support.

Technical in isolation; use it in Korean text when a word or name calls for this syllable.

A lone block gives too little context to infer the sender's message.

1

Why does 픏 show as separate jamo?

The text may contain the jamo sequence, or the font and shaping system may display its parts separately. NFC normalization composes the canonical sequence into one precomposed syllable when supported.

Why is 픏 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
